The Ford Atlas Concept

February 8th, 2013

Allow us to introduce the Ford Atlas Concept, revealed at the North American International Auto Show. Ford has built the Atlas Concept as a way to explore how to improve a truck’s towing and hauling characteristics, and it also offers a glimpse at where Ford trucks may be headed in the future.

Fuel efficiency and productivity are key for the Atlas Concept, which has some breakthrough capabilities. Take for example the Active Grille Shutters that automatically stay open when additional engine cooling is needed in low-speed or hot weather driving situations, then close for better aerodynamics when cruising at steady speeds.

Ford Teams Up to Save Energy with MyEnergi Lifestyle

January 13th, 2013

Imagine an energy-saving technology which, if applied to every home in the U.S., could save the amount of energy it takes to power all of the homes in California, New York and Texas. That is roughly 32 million homes. Your mind probably jumped to cold fusion or some other science fiction solution; but the reality could be as simple as the smart implementation of technology that is already available today.

Ford recently announced the MyEnergi Lifestyle® collaboration, which will demonstrate how a typical American family can significantly reduce their electricity bills and CO2 footprint by integrating home appliance technology with a plug-in vehicle to achieve an energy-efficient lifestyle.

The Oldest Surviving Ford Production Car

December 20th, 2012

There is so much rich history connected to the Ford family and the Ford Motor Company, and we’re approaching quite a milestone: The 150thanniversary of the birth of company founder Henry Ford! But how do you kick off that year-long celebration? What has enough oomph to start things with a bang?

How about a 1903 Ford Model A? Not just any vintage Ford car, though. This 1903 Model A Rear Entry Tonneau is one of three vehicles that were the first sold by Henry Ford as the Ford Motor Company. The company’s cash balance stood at less than $250. A much-needed cash infusion arrived on July 13, 1903 – One full payment and two deposits totaling $1,320 for three Model A cars – that kept Ford Motor Company afloat. Ford 1.0-liter EcoBoost Engine Visits L.A.

December 10th, 2012

When you imagine an engine that makes headlines at a major auto show, the first thing that comes to mind is probably a high-horsepower monster in a concept car. But completely different engine hit the 2013 L.A. Auto Show, which opened to the public on November 30, 2012. Ford is showcasing an engine that will turn heads for different reasons: Its compact power and incredible fuel economy.

That engine is the 1.0-liter EcoBoost®, which will be arriving in the U.S. next year in the 2014 Ford Fiesta after a successful introduction in Europe earlier this year. When it hits the market stateside, it is expected to deliver the best EPA-estimated fuel economy of any non-hybrid car sold in the U.S. And that is just one reason that it stands out from the crowd.
